As much as I wanted to wait on this post, I am happy to be writing it. Because I have posted pictues, I figured I would do it now. Many do not know I have been on quite a "change my life" journey. One New Year's resolution I was/am determined to keep. I was at a breaking point. And to be honest, I have been disgusted, since living here, with the food and well the people. Yep, I know it sounds rude, but its true. All the food options here are like a fried food place on every other corner. When I watched Jamie Olivers, Food Revolution, he was in West Virginia and talked about how that state and Virginia were some of the fattest cities in the nation....I believe it. I go to the grocery store, and the produce sections are tiny. There are hardly healthy alternatives. Thankfully I have a whole foods and trader joe's 30 minutes away. I know that's far, but at least I have one!
So, with all that said, I have been cooking healthy, really watching what I eat/drink, and exercising. Don't get me wrong, I still love sweets. Everything in moderation! As of today, I have lost 24 pounds. I am so proud! I have set a goal of losing 30 by June and I will make it, with hopefully a few extra more!
Some things to mention. Losing weight is hard. But, then again its not...Confusing I know. Here is why. I put on the pounds over the course of about 7 years. It has taken me less than 4 months to take off a good chunk of it! That rocks. Another thing. Fad diets don't work over the long run. I am here to tell you that it is all about watching what you eat and exercising. Develop food habits. I have always told people this, and I am glad to finally be practicing what I preach.
My inspiration: I know these people do not know it, but have been a huge inspiration to me.
Brad: Chad's uncle. When I attempted to lose weight and run about a year and a half ago, he was always there asking me how it was going and supporting me. He runs marathons now and is awesome! I hated the feeling of disappointment when I did not lose much weight.
Kali: My old roomie and great friend. She is a rockstar at getting herself in shape. After each of her kids, she has gotten herself where she wanted and participates in triathalons. She rocks.
my kids: Paige is an amazing eater. I always thought, "wow I got lucky." But, honestly, I did that. I have instilled in my kids that eating healthy keeps our bodies in great shape. I just wasn't listening to my own advice. I am proud to say I am now!
The picture that finally made me disgusted...
look at the two cute girls, and then me, hiding behind my purse.
The latest...I am going to be egotistical, but I think I look so much better! So here is to taking more pictures with me in them and living a healthy life!
