How Carson got here

This may just be more for me than anything, but if you are interested here is the story...Not much to it...

Chad and I arrived at the hospital at 7:30 thinking that we would be going in to the OR around 9:30 or so. We got to the room, they prepped me and said that they were taking me in at 8:15! I was definitely shocked and did not have much time to think, which was good I guess. I had the best anesthesia nurse there is. The spinal block was definitely different and I did not enjoy the fact that it made my body numb so fast. It was a little hard to breathe and I only freaked out a little bit. The doctor came in the room around 8:40 and began the process. I was actually shocked because she actually talked to ME! Very different then when I had Paige. She was so nice and explained things as she went along which helped ease my mind a lot. Chad was allowed to look over and see Carson just as they were pulling him out. There is nothing more comforting than hearing your baby cry for the first time!
This time around, Carson never left me. I really enjoyed that. He was on the bed with me as they wheeled me in to recovery. The recovery room was not so cool because I was there for 4 hours!! For some reason the rooms were not ready, however 2 women got to go ahead of me because they were normal delivery and not there as long as me. That was not cool, but what can you do. Paige and my parents got to come visit in the recovery room and Paige had a hard time seeing me hooked up to so many machines. She loved that she got to meet Carson and hold him.
The first night was not really fun at all. I asked the nurse when should I send Carson to the nursery and she informed me that they did not have a nursery for the babies to sleep in. That is not cool at all. So in the end that is why we only stayed 2 nights. I did not see a point to staying longer if I did not get to send him to the nursery.
We are now home and it has been really good. I am getting a good amount of sleep and Paige is such a good helper! Not to mention my fantastic mother who does everything for us! We really enjoy this newborn!

Britt... my hospital did that too. They dont have a nursery and you keep the baby in your room at all times. Really, how is the mom supposed to sleep then? You end up worrying too much about the baby.
Anyway, Congrats. Carson is sure cute. i am happy for you.

I love all the details. I can't believe they have no nursery! That is crazy! I only stayed in the hopspital for the minimum of 24 hours and then I was out of there! I hate getting my blood pressure checked every hour etc... I sleep much better at home. I am glad things are going so well so far and that your mom is there.
